About BCASSP
Bergen County’s professional association for the people who keep K–12 schools safe.
Our story
The BCASSP was started in May of 2017 when several retired law enforcement officers, working as school security specialists, saw the need for a professional venue to share critical school security information with their contemporaries around the county. Through the support of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, we developed this working group of like-minded individuals.
Who we are
The Association is made up of school security specialists, school security personnel, facilities directors and staff, principals, technical specialists, school administrators, and anyone in a public or private Bergen County school district who works in educational security.
What we do
The Association gives school security staff a way to share best practices and emerging trends while building a network to exchange information about those practices. We also share information about equipment, software and hardware that better keep our campuses safe, and provide professional training opportunities for K–12 security staff and administrators.

Read bio
Jeff was hired by the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department in 1989 and spent most of his career in the motorcycle unit. After 26 years of service, he retired as a Lieutenant and Master Instructor for Police Motorcycle Operation. Throughout, he stayed involved at Eastern Christian Schools coaching softball, soccer and baseball, and returned after his law enforcement career as Director of Operations and School Security.
A quote from the “I Love U Guys” Foundation describes him well: “I am not an expert but I am an avid student.” School is not a place for students to feel afraid — he works hard to create a safe learning environment for students, staff and visitors.
